THOS. H. ZIEGLER DIED THURSDAY NIGHT IN CINCINNATI, OHIO
T.H. Ziegler passed away at 11 p.m. Thursday in a hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, after a period of failing health although his last illness was not of long duration. Funeral services were held in Cincinnati this afternoon.
Mr. Ziegler graduated from college here in 1901 and in his student days played a stalwart tackle on the college football team. Following his graduation he taught for some time in Grinnell high school, acting also as football coach. He went from here to Chicago and after a period of teaching there, became principal of a high school in Cincinnati. He retired from active service two years ago.
He *married Ellen Newton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Newton, early residents of this community, who survive him with three children, Mrs. Howard Kale of Seattle, Wash., Robert at home and John, who is in government employ as a radar and radio specialist at Pearl Harbor. There are four grandchildren, two sons and a daughter of Mrs. Kale and a daughter of John.
John and Thomas Newton, Mrs. Ina Harrington and Mrs. Frank Black, all of this city, are brothers and sisters of Mrs. Ziegler. Mr. Ziegler is also survived by a brother, Will, of Minneapolis and a sister, Linnie, of Clinton. He had visited in Grinnell frequently with his wife's relatives and had many friends here.
