FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR FORMER RESIDENT AT CINCINNATI, OHIO

Grinnell relatives have received word of the death Tuesday, August 13, of Mrs. Ellen N. Ziegler, member of a prominent Grinnell family, at the age of 84 years. A clipping from the Cincinnati (O.) Times-Star under date of August 14, stated that the funeral would be held Friday, August 16. Burial was in West Haven cemetery, Blue Ash. For the past five years, since the death of her husband, Mrs. Ziegler had lived at the Methodist Home, College Hill.

Mrs. Ziegler will be remembered here as Ellen Newton. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Newton, early Grinnell residents. She was the mother of a son, Attorney Robert N. Ziegler of Cincinnati, who is president of the Cincinnati Club, and a daughter, Dr. Marybeth Kale, Seattle, Wash., and is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Harrington and Mrs. Frank Black, and two brothers, Thomas and John Newton, all of Grinnell.

Mrs. Ziegler and her husband were classmates in college, graduating in 1901. Mr. Ziegler was a football player of high repute and after his graduation taught for a time in Grinnell high school. He taught for many years at Withrow high school in Cincinnati. Mrs. Ziegler was a leader in PTA, church, and civic activities.
