VERMILLION RITES HELD WEDNESDAY

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 24) for Vester Mayo (Bill) Vermillion at the Steffy Funeral Home with Mr. Larry Fayer officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were: Harold Bushong, Claude Bogard, Fred Kirby, James Playle, Alvie Johnson and Alred Tish. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Vester Mayo (Bill) Vermillion, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Vermillion, was born near Barnes City on June 27, 1898. He died Monday, Nov. 22, at Clarinda, Iowa, at the age of 67.

He attended the Barnes City schools and was a member of the Barnes City Christian Church.

During his early days he was a resident of the Montezuma community and the surrounding area. He later moved to Des Moines where he made his home. He was employed at the Broadlawns General Hospital, Younker's Tea Room and he also traveled as a race horse trainer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; his parents; four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fred (Orena) Davis of Montezuma, and several nieces and nephews.
