MRS. MEREDITH SERVICES HELD
Myrle J. Meredith, 91, a native of Lynnville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Marine City, Mich.
She was born June 3, 1882, on a farm two miles south of Lynnville, the daughter of Melker J. and Elizabeth Gastor Garner. She attended school near her home. On March 6, 1902, she was married to Albert R. Meredith of Lynnville. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year.
The couple had six children, two of whom preceded her in death--Freada Meredith Brignon, who died July 23, 1973, and Kenneth Gerald Meredith, who died Feb. 20, 1920. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Nola Garner Simms and Mrs. Dora Garner James; and one brother, Raymond Garner.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Mrs. Treva M. Etting of Grinnell, Marshall G. Meredith of Lynnville, Merlin W. Meredith of Marine City, Mich., and Rayford L. Meredith of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Meredith for a number of years was a member of the Salem Methodist Church south of Lynnville, where she participated in music and choir. She later was affiliated with the Friends Church of Lynnville. She was also a member of the Mary White Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, at Lynnville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Meredith were held Oct. 6 at the Lynnville Friends Church, with the Rev. Willard Reynolds officiating, assisted by the Rev. Delano Cunningham. Music was provided by Dale Jansen and Mrs. Ron Toppenburg. Flower attendants were Irma Meredith Jansen, Judy Meredith, and Maxine Meredith George. Pallbearers included Ervin Meredith, Donald Meredith, Bruce Meredith, Dennis Meredith, Lloyd James and Harold James.
Burial was in the salem Cemetery near Lynnville.
