MAXINE ARMSTRONG

Maxine Beason Armstrong, 63, of Escondido, Calif., formerly of Grinnell, died of a stroke Sunday, Feb. 24, at Palomar Memorial Hospital in Escondido.

Graveside services are pending at West Liberty Cemetery east of Searsboro. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell for additional information.

Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Floyd Martin and Lena Faye Jones Beason, she was born southeast of Grinnell Nov. 26, 1927. She attended rural schools, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1945. She had lived in southern California for 40 years. She had worked as a secretary for General Dynamics, retiring Feb. 22, shortly before her death.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz., and Randy and Larry, both of Renton, Wash.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Neta Stewart of Grinnell and Louise Whitehead of New Sharon.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Max Beason, and a sister, Retha Lynch.
