FLOYD BEASON SERVICES HELD

Floyd M. Beason, 73, of Rte. 2, Grinnell, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon of an apparent heart attack.

The son of Frederick M. and Olive F. Miller Beason, he was born March 10, 1899, near Montezuma. He attended rural schools near Lynnville.

On June 1, 1918, he was married to Lena Faye Jones in Montezuma. The couple had five children: Mrs. Glenn (Neta) Stewart of Grinnell; Floyd Max Beason, who died Feb. 1, 1949; Mrs. Ben (Retha) Lynch of Des Moines; Mrs. Lloyd (Louise) Whitehead of New Sharon; and Mrs. Maxine Armstrong of Escondido, Calif.

Mr. and Mrs. Beason farmed near Lynnville until 1926 when they moved to a farm near Grinnell. They had lived in their present home for the last 20 years.

Mr. Beason is survived by his wife Lena; his four children, Neta, Bertha, Louise, and Maxine; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1947; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Beason, who died in 1957.

Funeral services for Mr. Beason were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Myron Harris, pastor of the Grinnell Northside Friends Church, officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Gordon Van Donselaar, organist, and Gordon Van Donselaar, vocalist. Pallbearers were Fred Grandsaff, Michael Hudnutt, Jack D. Marcum, Dale Pinkerton, Bill Ritter, and Arlo Worth.

Burial was in West Liberty Cemetery near Searsboro.
