ELIZABETH HORN

Elizabeth Horn, 79, of Grinnell died Saturday, Sept. 11, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

No services are planned. The body was cremated, and a private burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of George and Margaret Gardner Lofy, she was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Alta Vista. She was raised in the Alta Vista and New Hampton areas and was a 1937 graduate of St. Williams High School in Alta Vista.

She was married to Harold Horn Aug. 16, 1940, in Mason City. They lived in Charles City and Waterloo prior to moving to the Beman-Conrad area in 1953. They moved to Grinnell in 1963, and she was employed in the housekeeping department at Grinnell College. She retired in 1990.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Phillip of Austin, Texas, and Terry of Des Moines; one daughter, Virginia Cortez of Lakewood, Colo.; two brothers, Gerald Lofy of New Hampton and Giles Lofy of Minneapolis; one sister, Margaret Cornwell of New Hampton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Genevieve Nehl.
