Hubert F. Dobbs, 93, of Grinnell, died Saturday, Oct. 8, at his home.

Graveside services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman, with the Rev. Bruce Feuerbach, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Grinnell, officiating. Pallbearers were Paul, Earl and Johnny Dobbs, Toby Godfrey, Lance Bowling, Paul Hansen, Aaron Dobbs and Glen Godfrey.

The son of Steven and Rosannah Hurt Dobbs, he was born Nov. 2, 1900, in Mt. Pisgah, Ky. He attended rural school. Following his education, he moved to the Grinnell area and worked for area farmers.

He was married to Dora Mae Wilson Aug. 22, 1925, in Newton. They farmed in Kentucky for a few years before returning to Grinnell. Mr. Dobbs worked for the Rock Island Lines and the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad.

Surviving are his wife; his children, Beulah Hansen of Marshalltown, Rosa Godfrey of Marshalltown, Mary Ann Wilmot of Lake City, Minn., Paul of Fresno, Calif., Earl of Marshalltown, Georgia Scull of Nashville, Tenn., and Johnny of Marshalltown; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ernest; a grandson; three brothers and six sisters.
