Patrick Walsh was born in Pennsylvania January 19,1832 and died October 28,1904 aged 72 years 8 months and 9 days.
He moved from Pennsylvania to Clayton County, Iowa in the spring of 1855.
He was joined in marriage to Ann M. Dibble in 1857. To this union were born 9 children, 4 girls and 5 boys. On of the girls, Mrs. W.C. Walter preceeded her father to the better land. The remaining children and the beloved mother survive to mourn the loss of a kind father and loving husband.
He with the family moved from Clayton County to Poweshiek County in the spring of 1865, and always resided on the farm in Scott Township until he was called yonder at 2:39 A.M., October 28, 1904.
He had been ailing and gradually growing weaker for the past eight years, and was confined to his bed one week previous to his departure.
He was brought up in the Methodist belief, and while he never united with any particular church, he always attended serices in the Methodist Church and lived an upright, conscientious life.
Funeral services were held at the house Sunday morning, October 30, 1904. conducted by Rev. Phillips of Malcome, and the remains were entered in the Brooklyn Cemetary. May God comfort and sustain the widow and the children in their sore bereavement.
