MRS. MINNIE SHOCKLEY SINCERELY MOURNED

Mrs. Minnie Shockley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Head, passed away at the home of her sister Mrs.Peter Doud Sr., Thursday evening, April 16, 1925; age 52 years, 8 months and 14 days.

She had made her home in Grinnell practically all her life. She was well known as a kind and loving neighbor and a dutiful mother.

Minnie Head was united in marriage to Hamor Shockley, Feb. 28, 1889. Mr. Shockley preceded her in death June 22, 1910; so also did a daughter Helen in infancy. Those left to mourn the mother's death are, Thomas L. of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Mrs. Joe Dimmitt of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Chas. M. of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Harry Barrett, also of Des Moines; Kenneth F. of Iowa City; and Mrs. Ed. Grandstaff, of Syndey, Iowa. Also nine grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Peter Doud, Sr., of Grinnell and Mrs. Marian Killin of Iowa City, and two brothers, Mahlon and Andrew Head of this city. The funeral services were held at the Friends church with Rev. Fryhoff in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Richards sang, "Rock of Ages," "Going Down the Valley" and "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break."

The bearers were nephews, Merle and Donald Sparks, Harlan Killin, Dan, Mahlon and Clarence Doud.
