THOMAS HAMOR SHOCKLELY

Thomas Hamor Shockley was born in Clinton county, Ohio, June 2, 1854, and died July 27, 1910. He was the son of Milton P. and Mary A. Shockley. He came to Iowa with his parents when quite a small boy and grew to manhood in Poweshiek county at Montezuma. He was married to Minnie M. Head on February 29, 1889, and moved to Grinnell where he has resided ever since. To this union were born seven children, four girls and three boys: Olive, Irma, Mayme and Helen, Thomas, Charles and Kenneth. Helen died at the age of four months. He was a loving husband and father. He was an industrious and hard working man. He also leaves three sisters and two brothers, C.M. Shockley, of this city, Mrs. Carl Hammond of Albia, Mrs. Alice Hedges, of Stanley, N.D., R.V. Shockley, of Enid, Okla., Mrs. Will Trimbell, of this city. The funeral services were held at the late home at 713 Summer street, conducted by Rev. Viola Smith, of Searsboro. His body was laid to rest in Hazelwood cemetery.
