FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JAS. SPARKS WEDNESDAY

James Sparks was born in Grinnell August 28, 1891 and died March 24, 1924, at the age of 33 years, seven months and two days. He was married to Mabel Adkins, to which union was born one daughter.

He leaves to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father, son and brother, his daughter, Cleda, seven years old, his father, Bart Sparks, one sister Mrs. Bland of Des Moines and two brothers, Merle and Donald Sparks of Grinnell.

He was employed by the Co-Operative Delivery company of this city and was a faithful employee.

Funeral services were held from the Friends Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Robert Lincoln. Pallbearers were: Jim Buswell, Fred Whittaker, Sam Downey, George Phipps, Jim Phipps and Orville Stanley. Three duets, "Rock of Ages," "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me," were sung by Mrs. Robert Bouma and Mrs. C.W. Ennis. Burial was made at Hazelwood.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Charles Mitchell, a brother-in-law, his daughter, Dorothy, and his little son, and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Killen and daughter, Jessie, from Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shockley from Missouri Valley; Mrs. John Beeler from Davenport; Dan Doud and Pearl Sparks from Newton.
