"ONDY" SPARKS SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Donald "Ondy" Sparks, 67, of 919-1/2 East St., were held Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Sparks died Friday, Dec. 29, of an apparent heart attack.

Officiating at funeral services was the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner. Pallbearers were John R. Anderson, Robert E. Anderson, Dave Barns, Gerald G. Kahler, William Welsh, and Arlo Worth. Honorary pallbearers were Francis D. Cox, Virgil Doud, Howard Edwards, Sherley Eichhorn, William Flanagan, John Peterson, Clayton Phelps, Raymond Playle, and Webb Wallace. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Barton and Laura Head Sparks, he was born Aug. 8, 1905, in Grinnell. He attended Grinnell public schools and on Aug. 29, 1931, was married to Beulah Bench in Unionville, Mo. The couple had one son, Harold Sparks of El Cajon, Calif.

Mr. Sparks was associated with the Maid Rite restaurant a night manager for 34 years.
