MRS. SARAH A. WORTMAN

Mrs. Sarah A. Wortman died at her residence 1 mile northwest of Jacob Switch Thursday morning at 8 o'clock. The deceased, Sarah Agnes Smiley, was born in Washington county, Pa., Nov. 24, 1833. When 9 years of age she moved with her parents to Morgan county, Ohio.

On January 15, 1853, she was married to B.F. Wortman. In 1854 they moved to Henry county, Illinois, lived there 14 years, then moved to Poweshiek county, where she has lived ever since. At the time of her death she was a member of the Friends church at Blue Point and was a very consistent Christian. She leaves one daughter, one son, nine grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Interment at Friends church of Blue Point.

Dearest mother thou hast left us.
And thy loss we deeply feel
But 'tis God that has bereft us--
He can all our sorrows heal.

Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life has fled,
When in Heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tears are shed.
