THOMAS SMILEY FUNERAL RITES SET FOR SATURDAY

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Smith funeral home for Thomas Smiley, 76, who died Wednesday at his home near Grinnell after an illness of about two years.

He is survived by his wife, Marjory and five brothers and sisters, Wilfred S. Smiley, Grinnell; M.H. Smiley, Dallas Center, Iowa; Dr. W.A. Smiley, Chicago; Mrs. R.J. (Lucile) Fallin, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Miss Leona Smiley, Charles City.

Son of the late William and Mary Dunn Smiley, he was born Feb. 2, 1881, near Malcom. He was married Dec. 23, 1925, at Chicago to Marjory Warthman. He had lived here since 1929, coming here from Alden. He was a former teacher and superintendent of schools.

He was a member of the Congregational church and the Grinnell Masonic lodge. He was a graduate of Grinnell college in 1906 and was a post graduate of the University of Chicago.

The Rev. Leland Mann will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.
