HARRY SMILEY

Harry Smiley, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Smiley, was born at his late home in Sheridan township, July 3, 1892, and died April 11, 1909, aged 16 years, 9 months and 8 days.

On October 25, 1908, he was stricken with typhoid fever, from the effects of which he never recovered, and on Sunday afternoon at twenty-three and one half minutes past five, the clock, that had ticked away the many long hours of his illness, stopped, and serves as a mute reminder of the very time that his young spirit winged its flight into the Great Beyond. Be it said, he was a very manly boy, and possessed a very broad intellect for one so young. He had every promise of a successful and useful career before him. He leaves to mourn his loss, father, mother, five brothers and two sisters.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Crull, at the Presbyterian church on Tuesday, April 13, and his remains tenderly laid to rest at Ivy Hill cemetery. Beautiful music was furnished by a quartette which sang the favorite family hymns. The floral contributions were many and very beautiful, and shows the esteem in which he was held by all who knew him. The entire community extends its sympathy to the bereaved family.
