PAUL BEALL MEMORIAL SET

Paul Beall, 78, Winter Haven, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 26, at his home following a lengthy illness from a stroke.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 2, in Winter Haven and interment will be Monday, Oct. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.

He was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Des Moines and was a graduate of North High School there in 1928. He graduated from Grinnell College in 1932 with a degree in economics. He attended Harvard Law School, then received the master of arts degree in speech and speech science in 1940. He received the doctor of philosophy degree from Penn State University in 1948 in speech.

He taught at the University of Michigan and at Penn State and also was director of information in the research and development board of the United States Defense Department, continuing as a consultant after returning to the field of teaching at Penn State.

He was married Sept. 18, 1938, to Helen Wadsworth in Concord, Mass.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Helen W., Sara E., Christopher W. and Nancy P.
