ANN HEATHMAN

Ann E. Heathman, 72, of 628 High St., Grinnell, died of a lung disorder Friday, Feb. 7, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Willa M. Goodfellow, vicar of St. Paul's Episcopal church, officiating. Organist will be Mary Ogata.

Honorary bearers will be Jeff Wallace, Chris Foy, Chad Wallace, Frosty Mitchell, Gary Blair, Lloyd Nybo and Stanley Davis.

Private family services will be conducted at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Grinnell General Hospital Auxiliary.

The daughter of Mark A. and Lenora Northey Fisher, she was born Jan. 30,1920, in Philadelphia. The family moved to Chicago where she graduated from Senn High School. She also attended Carroll College in Wisconsin.

On Feb. 5, 1943, she was married to Fred Heathman in Chicago. The couple lived in Colorado, California, Oregon and Texas before moving to Grinnell in 1959. While living in Grinnell, Mrs. Heathman worked in the alumni office at Grinnell College. In 1964 she joined the staff of KGRN Radio where she was employed as office manager and later as station manager. She was Iowa's first female radio station manager. Mrs. Heathman retired in 1982.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Grinnell General Hospital Auxiliary and the Grinnell Business and Professional Women's Association. She was named "Woman of the Year" in Grinnell by the association. She also was a volunteer in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.

Surviving are her husband, Fred; her mother, Lenora Fisher of Zion, Ill.; two daughters, Judy Foy of Sergeant Bluff and Linda Heathman of Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Bill of Midland, Texas; three grandsons; and her twin brother, Mark Fisher of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her father; three sisters, Lenora Hall, Mildred Fisher and Martha Fisher; and one brother, Bill Fisher.
