MRS. A. WENTZEL RITES WEDNESDAY

Augusta, daughter of Charles and Henrietta Laubitz was born near Berlin, Germany, October 10,1849, as the oldest of seven children. She passed away at her home in Malcom Monday evening, June 20th,at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Augusta Laubitz came to America at the age of 13 years. In 1868 she was united in marriage to John Wentzel at La Salle, Illinois. To this happy union there wre born six daughters. Three of these died in infancy. The fourth, Mrs. Pauline Hedges passed away in 1909.

Surviving to mourn the loss of Mrs. Wentzel are two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Cox and Mrs. Anna Taylor of Spring Valley, Ill., two daughters, Mrs. Albert Petrie of Popejoy, Iowa, and Miss Nellie Wentzel; also two granddaughters and four grandsons, and a host of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Wentzel came to Malcom in the year 1883, 53 years ago. Mr. Wentzel preceded his wife in death 35 years ago, having been taken from this life on March 19, 1898.

Mrs. Wentzel became a member of the Lutheran faith through baptism in infancy and subsequent instruction and confirmation. She will long be remembered in this community as a kind neighbor and a good mother.

The funeral services for Mrs. Wentzel were held Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at Malcom. Rev. A. Thalacker, pastor of the Lutheran church, had charge of the services. Miss Vesta Scott sang several appropriate selections, assisted by Mrs. T.A. Armstrong as accompanist. Interment was at the Malcom cemetery.
