Obituary dated March 28, 1902

GRIER.

Albert Grier, son of John and Lucy Grier, was born in Hardin County, Iowa, November 5, 1862. Left an orphan in 1873, he made his home with his uncle, James H. Grier in Lincoln township, where he lived until his marriage, Nov. 11, 1884, to Miss Aurelia Lusetta Van Fossen. There were born to them two children, Homer in 1887 and Ruby in 1898, both of whom survive. He died March 25, 1902, at his home in Chester township, where he has lived for eleven years.

Albert Grier was an industrious, enterprising young man, faithful and diligent in his work, true hearted and just, a kind husband and devoted father. One of the tests of his character is the high esteem of all of his neighbors and friends.

Always kindly disposed to the church, he finally accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized by his pastor. He was very happy in this experience and testified that it was all gain to him. His death was a triumph.

The funeral was held from the Methodist Church, Grinnell, where the service was conducted by the pastor on Tuesday, March 25.

"Rest for the toiling hand,
Rest for the anxious brow,
Rest for the weary, way-sore feet,
Rest from all labor now."

"Rest from thy labor, rest.
Soul of the just, set free
Blest by thy memory, and olest
Thy bright examble be!"
