RITES SET FOR MRS. BATTEY
Mrs. Jeanette T. Battey, 43, of 1132 West St., Grinnell, died Tuesday evening at Grinnell General Hospital of an apparents heart attack.
Funeral services for Mrs. Battey will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Russell officiating. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Battey's name may be made to the coronary care unit of Grinnell General Hospital.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning Thursday evening.
The daughter of Emory Theodore and Helen L. Tyler Johnson, she was born Nov. 18, 1934, at Rosemead, Calif. She and her family lived in the Los Angeles area until 1941 when they moved to Big Creek, Calif. In 1948, she and her family moved to Boulder City, Nev., where she was graduated from high school in 1952.
She was married to Lawrence "Bo" Battey on Jan. 10, 1953, in Boulder City. The couple had three children: William Battey of Grinnell, Mrs. Frank (Karen) Kelm of Bondurant, and Howard Battey of Grinnell.
Mrs. Battey was a charter member of the Grinnell Mothers Club.
Survivors include her husband; her children; her mother, Mrs. Helen Johnson of Grinnell; and her grandmother, Mrs. Alice Tyler of Spokane, Wash. She was preceded in death by her father in 1974.
