HELEN L. JOHNSON
Helen L. Johnson, 82, of Grinnell died Monday, April 8, at St. Francis Manor.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillsdale Cemetery, Madrid, with the Rev. John Epperson of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Manor.
The daughter of George and Alice Nagel Tyler, she was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Clarkfork, Idaho. She later moved with her family to San Gabriel, Calif., where she received her education.
She was married to Emory Johnson March 26, 1932, in Santa Ana, Calif., and the couple lived in Big Creek, Calif., for several years before moving to Boulder City, Nev. They moved to Grinnell in 1969.
While living in Boulder City, Mrs. Johnson worked in the nursery of Grace Community Church for 25 years. She later worked for the Grinnell United Methodist church nursery and was a nanny for the Jim and Marsha White family. She attended the Grinnell United Methodist church and was a member of the Mothers' Club and the R.S.V.P. Band.
Surviving are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her son-in-law, Bo Battey, is a resident of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Jeanette Battey.
