JOHN J. TYLER DIES FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS
John J. Tyler, native and lifelong resident of Poweshiek county, died at a local hospital Sunday morning, April 19, following a lingering illness. He was 66 years old.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Malcom Methodist church with Rev. Julian Carter officiating. Interment will be in Ivy Hill cemetery with James Funeral Home of Grinnell in charge of arrangements.
Born on a farm two miles west of Malcom, Mr. Tyler had been farming the land where he was born.
Surviving are two brothers, George W. of Seattle, Wash., and Oliver A. of Harvey, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Douglas of Grinnell and Mrs. A.E. Strand of LaGrange, Ill.; and six nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Tyler.
