ELLENSON RITES HELD MONDAY
Thelma Josephine Ellenson, 62, of 1522 Prince St., died Thursday evening, Aug. 14, at Grinnell General Hospital as a result of a stroke suffered earlier in the day.
The Mass of the Resurrections for Thelma Ellenson were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Harry Linnenbrink, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.
Pallbearers were Jerry Besson, Kenneth Burnham, Richard Hasselbrink, John L. Hotchkin, Russell L. James and Robert Maring.
The scripture service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home.
Born March 7, 1918, in Storm Lake, she was the daughter of John E. and Clara Meyer. As a child she moved with her family to a farm near Dillon and she received her education from St. Mary's High School in Marshalltown.
She married William E. Ellenson on Dec. 12, 1942, and the couple resided near Dayton until coming to Grinnell to make their home in 1949.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by three sons, William D. Ellenson of Chapel Hill, N.C., James L. Ellenson of Ithaca, N.Y., and Kenneth E. Ellenson of Oakland Acres; three brothers, Myron V. Meyer of Des Moines, Cecil P. Meyer of Marshalltown and John P. Meyer of Long Valley, N.J.; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Wilberding of McAllen, Tex., and Mrs. Geneva Wiltse of Viroqua, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; two sisters, Ursula and Irene; two brothers, Ralph and Roy; and her husband.
