THE LIFE WORK OF LOUIS HELM

Louis G. Helm was born at Washington, Mo., Dec. 15, 1856, and passed away at the Lutheran Hospital at Des Moines on July 18, 1930 at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 3 days.

He came to Malcom when he was twenty years of age.

He was the oldest son of John and Minnie Helm. He was united in marriage to Ella McAninch on May 3, 1884; to this union two children were born.

Lou has worked in the Vogel Hardware Store for over 53 years. He worked for Mr. Vogel for 26 years. After the death of Mr. Vogel in May 1929 Lou was manager of the store until March 1930 at which time Mr. Neff bought the business. He continued to work in this business until July 11th, which was his last day in the store.

He has always been a loyal and faithful neighbor.

They who mourn his departure are his loving wife; one son, Eddie of Brooklyn; one daughter, Mrs. Jess Hamor, of near Grinnell; one sister, Augusta Helm, of Washington, Mo.; a brother, Charley, also of Washington, Mo.; and six grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends.

Two sisters and two brothers preceded Louis in death.
