LOUISE TINDLE

Louise Tindle, 87, of Montezuma died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Montezuma Nursing Home.

A funeral service was held Oct. 22 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma with the Rev. George Salnave, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma, officiating. Music was by Alice Waechter, organist, and Darrell Brand, vocalist. Pallbearers were Kenten Vander Schel, Justin Vander Schel, A.J. Vander Schel, Jeffrey Tindle, William Smothers, J.O. Parker, Raymond Smothers and Jim Smothers. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery, rural Montezuma. Memorials may be made to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department.

Mary Louise Smothers Tindle was born Nov. 21, 1916, in Montezuma, the daughter of Ershel and Krillia Virginia Dryden Smothers. She was a graduate of Montezuma High School. She was married on Oct. 9, 1940, in Oskaloosa to Adonis (Don) Tindle. She was a member of the Ewart Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women, Countryside Star Club and the Farm Bureau.

She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Vander Schel of Newton; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Wayne, her twin brother Louis Smothers, her sister Wilma Marie and a granddaughter.
