MRS. HATTIE JANE EMERY PASSED AWAY THURSDAY, AGED 81

Mrs. Hattie Jane Emery passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, in the McCaw nursing home north of Grinnell. She would have been 82 years of age on June 9, and had been in failing health for several years.

She was born June 9, 1871 in Jasper county, the daughter of John and Mary Herdman Hoover.

Surviving are three sons Harry Hoover of Gilman and Leonard and DeVerne Emery of Miami, Fla., two sisters, Mrs. Mina Graham of Grinnell and Mrs. Lila Sparks of Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A daughter, Elsie, and a son, Clifford, preceded her in death.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. John M. Nolin of the Chester church were held at the James funeral home this afternoon with burial in Hazelwood cemetery.

Music was provided by Mrs. Dolph Miller and Mrs. Roscoe Dempster. Pall bearers were Elbert McGrew, Bob Foster, Vernon Graham, Raymond Selle, Wayne Selle and Roy Howell.
