OBITUARY OF MRS. MARY A. CARR

Mrs. Mary A. Carr, well known to older residents of this community died at San Jose, Cal., March 22nd, 1926. She was born in Pennsylvania April 11th, 1838, and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Correll to the vicinity of Deep River about 1846. She resided there until her marriage with Nicholas Carr, a brother of Captain Carr, of this city. Mr. Carr died in Nebraska March 22nd, 1901.

The remains of Mrs. Carr were brought to Montezuma by Mr. and Mrs. John W. Carr and interment was made in the Masonic and I.O.O.F. cemetery, March 27th, with the grave services conducted by the Rev. A.H. Barker. Besides the friends of the departed from this city, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Stone and daughter Stella of Grinnell and Mrs. George Icenbice, a sister and two nephews, Lloyd and James Hollingsworth of Deep River were present at the funeral.

Five children are left to mourn her death: Mrs. Cathrine Rosana Stone, now the wife of J.A. Stone of Grinnell; Almetta Ross of San Jose, at whose home Mrs. Carr lived at the time of her death; John W. Carr of Los Angeles: C.A. Carr of Encinatas and E.E. Carr of Vallejo, California.

Nicholas Carr at one time was sheriff of this county, and also was engaged in the implement business, under the firm name of Carr & Blanchard. Mr. Carr's death occurred just 25 years to a day prior to his wife, who predicted she would not live beyond that date.--Montezuma Republican.
