FUNERAL SERVICES FOR J.A. STONE

Funeral services for J.A. Stone, who died Monday, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his brother, W.N. Stone. The Rev. J.H. Krenmyre of the Methodist church conducted the services. The body was laid to rest in the Montezuma cemetery.
The pallbearers were R.B. Work, Frank Edge, F.M. Bartling and Mayo Harris of Grinnell, and Charles Adams and William J. Dodds of Montezuma.
James Albert Stone was born at Richland, Iowa, April 9, 1849. After completing the public school course he attended Iowa Wesleyan college for two years.
He then went to Ottumwa, where he was employed in the Jordan Brothers store. In 1876 he entered the mercantile business in Montezuma. In 1883 he moved to Grinnell where he was engaged in the dry goods business. He made his home in Grinnell from then until the time of his death, with the exception of five years which he spent in Oskaloosa.
In 1878 he and Miss Catherine Rosanna Carr were united in marriage. Mrs. Stone preceded him in death May 16, 1933. Three daughters, Helen and Mrs. R.H. Klindt of Montezuma, and Mrs. J.E. Norton of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and one grandchild, Virginia Ruth Norton, survive him.
Mr. Stone was taken ill while spending the winter with his brother, W.N. Stone of Montezuma, and passed away June 11, 1934.
