Lizzy Elizabeth Beck was born in Oxford, Iowa, December 25, 1882, and died in Grinnell, March 9, 1917, aged 34 years, 2 months and 12 days.

She was married in Eldora, to Ernest Abney. To this union were born six children, one boy, Perlie, and five girls, Marie, Mabel, Dorothy, Anna and Dolly.

She made her home in Grinnell after her marriage with the exception of a few months last fall when the family moved to Marshalltown, but her health failed there so they returned to Grinnell. She was ill all winter, but until a few days before her death it was not thought serious. She was taken very ill on Tuesday evening and was rushed to the hospital where a very serious operation was performed in the hopes of saving her life, but she passed away Friday morning at 2 o'clock.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and six children, father, mother, three brothers and two sisters.
