SCOTT DEATHERAGE

Scott L. Deatherage, 24, of 1028 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died of complications from Duchenne muscular dystrophy Tuesday, June 18, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Briggs, pastor of the First Friends Church, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and vocalist will be Sherry Burnham. Casketbearers will be Joel Ahrens, Larry Burch, Mary Burkett, Lisa Fleischman, Richard Hamilton, Nick Urfer and Tad Van Zante.

Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery west of Grinnell. A memorial in his name is being established.

Mr. Deatherage moved to Grinnell with his mother in 1978. While living here, he attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell High School. He had managed the school football and wrestling teams.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Charlene and Patrick Boat of Grinnell; his father and stepmother, Harvey and Patricia Deatherage of Milford, Kan.; one sister, Melissa Deatherage of Montezuma; and a half-brother, Travis Deatherage of Milford, Kan.
