The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Oct. 5, 1900

--Julius W. Parham died in this city on Monday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Scott, at the age of 72 years and 10 months. He was born in Vermont in December 1827. For a long period of years he was engaged in business at Geneseo, Ill., where he made friends with all. When Mr. Scott moved from Geneseo, Mr. and Mrs. Parham came to Grinnell with them. Seven years ago, also on Oct. 1, Mrs. Parham passed away. Mr. Parham has been in poor health for four or five years, and was but little known in Grinnell. In Geneseo where he was actively engaged, he was known as a hard worker, a great reader and a man possessed of a wide fund of information. The funeral occurred Wednesday at two o'clock, at the home of W.A. Scott, conducted by Rev. W.P. Stoddard of the M.E. church. The remains were laid beside those of his wife in Hazelwood.
