MRS. CROSS SMITH FUNERAL IS HELD AT HOME TODAY

The funeral of Mrs. Cross Smith, who died early Wednesday morning at a local hospital, was held at the home this afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. A.B. Cadwell in charge. Mrs. Roscoe Dempster and Mrs. A.B. Cadwell sang two beautiful vocal duets, and the pallbearers were: V.G. Preston, Ira Goodrich, Louis Kutish, Frank Clindinin, Ross Work, and William Nelson. Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Mrs. Smith had been in ailing health for many years, and had been confined to her bed for the last nine months. She was taken to the hospital about three months ago where she remained until her death.

Mrs. Smith was born in Newton as Miss Bertha Reynolds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Zachariah Reynolds. She moved to Grinnell after her marriage to Cross Smith, and has lived here ever since. Her husband preceded her in death about five months ago. She is survived by four children: Herbert of Grinnell, and Wilma, Minnie and Stanley, all of whom live at home. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. T.R. Hoyt of Marshalltown, and two brothers, H.E. Reynolds of Waterloo, and B.J. Reynolds of Oskaloosa.
