JAMES J. LUX, 61, RITES CONDUCTED THIS AFTERNOON

Funeral services for James J. (Krepela) Lux, 61, Rte. 2, Grinnell, were held this afternoon (Monday) at the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Methodist church officiating.

Mr. Lux succumbed Friday morning at the home of his niece, Mrs. Glen Harris, where he had been residing for the past 16 months.

Providing music at the services was Mrs. Rhee Auman. Pallbearers were Wilbur Foster, Raymond Harris, Kenneth Johnston, John Peterson, Paran Pederson and Bill Spooner. Burial was in Chester cemetery.

Born Sept. 11, 1898, in Tama county, he was the son of James and Josephine Kouba Krepela. He received his early education in the Tama county schools and at the age of 19 moved to California where he worked as a construction equipment operator.

Later he aided in the construction of the Alcan Highway in Alaska. He had traveled extensively in his lifetime, mostly in Florida, California, and in Iowa where his family resided.

Those surviving, in addition to his niece, include three brothers and six sisters: Charles Krepela of Chandler, Ariz.; Emil Krepela of Brawley, Calif.; Ted Krepela of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. George (Emma) Gillingham of Los Angeles; Mrs. Joe W. (Julia) Lacina of Grinnell; Mrs. John (Blanche) Stoddard of Reinbeck; Mrs. Tillie Lemon of Tujunga, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Fee of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Ferrell (Ella) Beckner of Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Frank.
