MILDRED RODERICK SERVICES HELD

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at the Smith Funeral Home for Mrs. F. Mildred Roderick, 70, who died early Wednesday at Montezuma where she had been living the past few years.

The Rev. Newell E. Davis, minister of the Grinnell United Church of Christ (Congregational), officiating. Pallbearers were Lawrence Decatur, Tracy Lidtka, Beckham Sutton, and Willard Wells. Organist was Mrs. R.J. Nash.

Burial was in Chester Cemetery.

The daughter of Ira and Fannie Carter Marsh, Mrs. Roderick was born in Grinnell on Aug. 17, 1898. She graduated from Grinnell High School and the University of Iowa. For a number of years she taught Latin and English in high schools. Later she taught biology at Newton, Buckley, Mich., and El Centro, Calif. Following her retirement she returned to Grinnell to make her home.

Dec. 23, 1930, she was married to Orville Roderick. To this union was born one son, M/Sgt. Orville Leon Roderick,Jr., presently stationed at Charleston (South Carolina) Air Force Base.

Mrs. Roderick was a member of the United Church of Christ, the DAR, the Iowa Society of Mayflower descendants, and had been a member of the Business and Professional Women's Society.

Survivors include her son; one granddaughter, Rosemary Helen Roderick; one brother, Raymond P. Marsh of Oxford, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. William (Esther M.) Bowen of Springfield, Mo.

Mrs. Roderick was preceded in death by her father in 1951 and her mother in 1961.
