KATHERINE STRAND FUNERAL SERVICES SCHEDULED TUESDAY

Mrs. Katherine Strand, 79, wife of Alfred Strand of Rte. 3, Grinnell, died early Saturday evening at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Chester Center Congregational church with the pastor, the Rev. Roland Wendell, officiating. Vocal music will be provided by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Holley, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Weaver at the piano.

In charge of flowers will be Mrs. Jess Knudson and Mrs. Albert Plesek. Pallbearers will be Elmer Burnson, Elmer Erickson, Ervin Erickson, Glenn Erickson, Lester Hendrickson, and Jesse Knudson. Interment will be in Chester cemetery.

Katherine Engleson was born Aug. 3rd, 1883, near Haugesund, Norway, and came to Grinnell in 1901 at the age of 18. Later, at Marshalltown, she was united in marriage with Alfred Strand.

Mrs. Strand received her education in Norway and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred; seven children, Mrs. Beckham (Alice) Sutton and Clair Strand, both of Grinnell; Mrs. Harold (Theresa) Beason of Afton; Ralph Strand of Gilman; Donald Strand at home; Mrs. Merle (Genevieve) Russell of Bettendorf.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three sisters in Norway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
