------------------------

Mary Idell Rickard, daughter of Alvin and Phoebe Jane Rickard, was born at Lyons, Iowa, July 9, 1859, and died at her home in Grinnell, February 9, 1929, at the age of 69 years and seven months. In the year 1863, the Rickard family moved to Tiskilwa, Illinois, and lived there until 1870, when a move was made to Chester Center, Iowa. Della, as she was familiarly called, received her education at the Chester and Grinnell schools. She united with the Chester Center Congregational church at an early age and lived a Christian life. She was united in marriage with George H. Morris November 20, 1883, and spent the large part of her married life on a farm near Newburg. There all her children were born. Her children were: Clara A. of Grinnell, Moreau of near Newburg, and Mrs. Phoebe McDaniel of Grinnell. One daughter, Mary Warren, died at an early age many years ago. She is also survived by five grandchildren. In October of 1920, she moved with her family to Grinnell, here the remainder of her life was spent. She was a woman of domestic tastes, greatly devoted to her home and family and friends and very helpful to her neighbors and all who needed aid in their troubles and misfortunes, always mindful of the comforts of others, rather than of her own.

Funeral services were held today at two o'clock at Snyder's funeral chapel with the Rev. H.L. Wissler of Chester, for many years her pastor at Newburg, in charge. Burial was at Chester Center.
