ERNEST J. STRAND
Ernest J. Strand was born at Verdon, Ill., July 2, 1886, and died at Rochester, Minn., Oct. 26, 1918, aged 32 years, 3 months and 24 days.
March 4, 1908, he was united in marriage with Emily Jenkens. To them was born one daughter, Mabel Lucille.
The deceased had been a sufferer for almost a year and made a heroic struggle for a return to health. He made two trips to Rochester, Minn., seeking relief. On the last trip he underwent an operation which resulted in his death. Through it all he was patient and cheerful, his only care being for his family and friends. "Don't worry about me, I'll be all right," was his oft reply to others concerning his health. All who knew Ernest Strand knew him to be a man of few words but many and strong friends. He was a kind and affectionate husband, an indulgent father and aa good neighbor. He leaves, beside his wife and daughter two brothers, Elmer of North Dakota, and Thorson of Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Walker, Mrs. Wyatt Dohl and Mrs. Nellie Simmons, all of Illinois; one uncle, Gabriel Strand, of Newburg, and a host of friends and relatives.
