LIFETIME AREA RESIDENT, LLOYD SEARS, 72, DIES

Lloyd C. Sears, 72, lifelong resident of the Chester area, died Tuesday after a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Headland will officiate and the organist will be Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers will be Henry Stahl, Fred Zimmerman, Lester Ashing, Tom Godfrey, Orval Hafkey, and Tracy Lidtka. Interment will be in the Chester cemetery.

Son of Maynard and Alice Koester Sears, he was born on July 5th, 1886, in Chester township. On Dec. 23rd, 1914, Mr. Sears was united in marriage with Lillian Bennett and they farmed north of Grinnell.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Garver Lutz of Kent, Ill.; three sons, Maynard of Searsboro and Russell and Roger of Grinnell; one brother, Homer of Traer; and two sisters, Mrs. Ben Thompson of Tama and Mrs. J.A. Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are John Bennett of Grinnell and Mrs. P.J. Hohs of Phoenix, Arizona, both reared by Mr. and Mrs. Sears.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren.
