LILLIAN SEARS SERVICES TODAY
Lillian Sears, 86, of Black Earth, Wis., formerly of the Chester area, died Monday morning at Black Earth.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Allyson Sawtell, co-pastor of the Newburg-Chester Parish, United Church of Christ, officiating. Orgnist will be Julia Pearce, and flower bearer will be Beulah Lidtka. Pallbearers will be Gene Campbell, Lester Ashing, Orville Hafkey, Merle Harris, Tracy Lidtka and Beckham Sutton.
The daughter of William J. and Mary Merriweather Bennett, she was born Sept. 29, 1892, at Manchester, England.
Burial will be at the Chester Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Sears' name may be made to the Chester Church.
At the age of 19, she came to the U.S. and made her first home with Dr. and Mrs. E.E. Harris in Grinnell.
She was married to Lloyd Sears on Dec. 23, 1914, in Chester. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Chester area until 1956. Mr. Sears died in 1959, and Mrs. Sears lived in Grinnell, moving later to Black Earth.
Survivors include her children, Maynard B. Sears of Searsboro, Russell O. Sears of Grinnell, Clifford Roger Sears of Alma, Ark., and Mrs. Garver (Alice) Lutz of Black Earth; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alice Hohs of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother, John C. Bennett of Laurel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three grandchildren, and a twin sister at birth.
