RAY BRUBAKER RITES TODAY

Ray Brubaker, 82, of 408 Sixth Ave., Grinnell, died Sunday evening, Dec. 9, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner, and vocalists will be Patty Evans and Mary Edna Sherman. Pallbearers will be Harold Brown, Donovan Evans, Vernon Graham, Henry Harris, Tom Harris and Wayne Hendrickson. Burial will be at the Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Mr. Brubaker's name may be left at the funeral home. A fund has been established.

The son of Ed and Lydia Coleman Brubaker, he was born Aug. 11, 1897, near Oskaloosa. He attended rural school near his family farm and later attended the William Penn School of Commerce at Oskaloosa. He farmed in the Oskaloosa area until moving to Grinnell in 1939.

On Dec. 6, 1941, he was married to Lenore Tice at Lancaser, Mo. The couple farmed in Chester Township north of Grinnell. They moved to Grinnell in 1955.

Mr. Brubaker was a member of the Grinnell First Baptist Church and the Farm Bureau. He was a 25-year member of the Sonora Grange.

Survivors include his wife, Lenore; one brother, Fred Brubaker of Ottumwa; and three sisters, Mrs. Dale (May) Lane of North English, Mrs. William Al (Alice) Shannon of Gladwyne, Pa., and Mrs. John B. (Caryl) Augustine of Eddyville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Worthy.
