ANNA L. WILEY FUNERAL SATURDAY

Anna L. Wiley, age 58, of 500 Broad Street, passed away Wednesday evening, June 21, at a local hospital.

The daughter of John and Clara Larsen Alertsen, she was born on August 8, 1908, near Malcom, Ia. She received her education in the schools of this community and on April 9, 1930 she was united in marriage to John Wiley at Grinnell. To this union two children were born, Garland Wiley of New Sharon and Doris (Mrs. Michael Hotchkin) of Grinnell. After their marriage they farmed in the Malcom Community, and since the death of her husband she has lived in Grinnell and made a home for her mother. She was a member of the Grinnell Methodist Church.

Mrs. Wiley is survived by her two children, Garland Wiley and Mrs. Doris Hotchkin; five grandchildren; five stepchildren: Lyle Wiley of Grinnell, Mrs. Richard (Fern) Beyer of Montezuma, Russell Wiley of Montezuma, Mrs. Tom (Lillian) LeVake of Emmetsburg, and Wayne Wiley of Grinnell; 15 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Alertsen, on April 22, 1963; her mother, Clara Alertsen, on June 7, 1967; and her husband, John Wiley, on August 11, 1963. Also preceding her in death were her three brothers Earl, Orville and Clinton Alertsen.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wiley will be Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Rev. Chester E. Custer, pastor of the Grinnell Methodist Church, will officiate, and interment will be in the Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom, Iowa.
