OBITUARY.

MRS. CORNELIA B. MCCOY

Cornelia B. Bodley was born near Auburn, N.Y., March 26, 1824. Her ancestors came from England and Scotland and settled in New York at an early day.

She was second in a family of ten children, yet only two of them have outlived her. One brother died in Andersonville prison after two years of service in the Union army.

She became the wife of Mr. Daniel Mason McCoy, February 9, 1850. They resided a few years in Michigan and thirteen years in Rock Island, Illinois, and then settled on the prairie in Chester township in 1866 where she resided forty-one years, another year having been passed in Colorado for Mr. McCoy's health, yet he died and was buried there. One of their five children died in infancy. Of the others Daniel H. resides in Nebraska, Mrs. Mary C. Holmes and Eugene M. in Grinnell, and Mrs. Carrie L. Welch in Griswold, Iowa. Mrs. McCoy leaves six grandchildren also, and one great grandchild.

In early life she joined the Baptist church, which other members of her family also preferred. During the last fifteen years she has been a great sufferer, being paralyzed much of the time. Her family rejoice in the memory of her as a friend, always ready to lend any needed aid in suffering, and in the family as tireless and self-sacrificing for everyone. Her abiding faith and her beautiful prayers for them, especially when near the last, are recalled with tearful thanksgiving. It was Mrs. Holmes' special personal labor and privilege to care for her in later years and at the end, which came June 11th. It is a beautiful sight when the children can and do take such tender care of an aged invalid mother.

The deceased had a perfect realization that her end was drawing near and was entirely resigned to it. She entered into her rest June 11, 1908.

Funeral services were conducted by Professor L.F. Parker at the residence of her son, Eugene McCoy on Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m.
