MRS. EMMA TOYNE, 88, FORMER TEACHER HERE, SUCCUMBS IN COLORADO

Word has been received here of the death Sept. 8 in Fort Morgan, Colo., of Mrs. Emma Johnson Toyne, 88, a former Grinnell resident.

Mrs. Toyne was born at Grinnell on June 17, 1873, graduated from both Grinnell high school and college, and attended the Grinnell Conservatory of Music. She later did graduate work at the universities of Chicago, California, and Colorado.

She was a former mathematics teacher at Grinnell high school.

Funeral services were held Sept. 12 at Fort Morgan, with interment at Riverside cemetery there.

She is survived by one sister, one step-daughter, and four step-grandchildren.
