WILLIAM S. SANDERS DIED ON MAY 9, IN OAKDALE, CALIF.

William Steele Sanders, former wellknown farmer in this vicinity, died on May 9 in Oakdale, Calif., according to word just received here. A member of the pioneer Sanders family he was born in Grinnell on Jan. 31, 1873, and lived in this community until the family moved to California in 1928. He farmed near Modesto until his retirement.

Mr. Sanders graduated from Grinnell college in 1895. The Sanders farm was located north of Grinnell on No. 146 and Mr. Sanders built there the fine farm home which is now occupied by the Joe Lacina family.

He is survived by his widow, Della A. Sanders of Modesto; five children, Lyman A. Sanders of Ceres, Calif., Robert R. Sanders of Modesto, Mrs. Mary Turner of Corning, Iowa, Richard S. Sanders of Spokane, Wash., and William S. Sanders, Jr., of Oakdale, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
