FUNERAL SERVICES FOR PAT F. CLYNCH WERE HELD TODAY
Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m. today at St. Mary's church for Patrick Francis Clynch, 79, who passed away Friday after a lingering illness of four years' duration. Rev. P.D. Moore was in charge of the funeral. The Rosary was recited at the James Funeral Home at 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery. Pall bearers were Bert Whitaker, Robert Plum, C.L. McNally, Francis Smith, Gene Gallagher and Pat Smith.
Mr. Clynch was born on June 12, 1862 at Cresco in Howard county, Iowa, the son of James Clynch and Anna Mullen Clynch. He received his education in the rural schools and later was graduated from the Normal college at Decorah. He taught school in Howard county for a number of years.
He was married to Anna Alice Creamer on Oct. 20, 1886 and to them were born four children, Ed, Mrs. Hugh Brown, James and Frank. Ed and Frank preceded him in death, Frank losing his life in France during the Wolrd War and Ed dying some time ago at his home in Dowagiac, Mich.
At one time Mr. Clynch was a fireman on the Milwaukee railroad and later moved to a farm in Poweshiek county on which he lived until moving to Grinnell in 1919. He was a member of the Grinnell police force for two years.
Pat, as he was known to his friends, leaves besides his wife and two children, two brothers, three sisters, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
