REV. GEO. MORPHY PASSES AWAY

Grinnell friends of a quarter of a century ago regret to learn of the death of Rev. George Morphy who came to the Baptist church in Grinnell as a pastor in the latter part of the 90's and served here several years. He was a young man with a good reputation, and fine personal appearance. He and his wife were active in all that was good in the town.

Mr. Morphy's death occurred at Cascade where he was serving the only Protestant church in the city. There had been three Protestant churches there but two of them had gradually died out and the one church which was left was a consolidated church with a Baptist pastor. Mr. Morphy was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1865 and died Christmas day 1927.

He studied for the ministry at Toronto University and Chicago University. He had served pastorates at Perry, Grundy Center, Grinnell and other places before going to Cascade. Many friends will sincerely regret to know of his death.
