EDNA HOTCHKIN RITES TUESDAY

Edna Brooke Hotchkin, 93, died Saturday, June 11, at the Mayflower Home Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ben F. Hearn Jr., chaplain of the Mayflower Home, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud. Pallbearers will be Vern Brooke, Robert Fopma, Floyd Heishman, Bernard Hotchkin, Darryl Hull and Laverne Morrison. Fraternal rites will be conducted by members of the Rebekah Lodge, with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Mrs. Hotchkin's name may be directed to the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of D.A. and Sadie Jeanette Sanderson Brooke, she was born April 25, 1895, in the Bethel area of Jasper County. She attended rural school in Richland Township. She graduated from Grinnell High School and attended Grinnell College. She taught in Chester Center School north of Grinnell.

She was married to Vincent D. Hotchkin Jan. 29, 1918, in Grinnell. The couple farmed in Jasper County, then moved to Grant Township in Poweshiek County in 1936.

Mrs. Hotchkin was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Pythian Sisters, the Rebekah Lodge, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of Union Veterans, the Daughters of American Colonists, the Harmony Ladies Aid and the United Church of Christ-Congregational. She had been a resident of the Mayflower Home since her husband's death in 1973.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley of Newton and Roger of Independence, Mo.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Brooke Moore of St. Francis Manor.
