ROSA HOTCHKIN RITES TODAY

Rosa S. Hotchkin, 86, of St. Francis Manor died Monday afternoon, Dec. 12, at Grinnell General Hospital.

The Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Harry Linnenbrink officiating. Pallbearers were Bob Cockerton, Bernard Hotchkin, Mike Hotchkin, Tom Hotchkin, Stanley Hotchkin and Jim Pierce. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The Scripture Service was conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The daughter of Henry and Anna Harnick Mithelman, she was born April 17, 1897, in Chicago, Ill. At the age of 2, she moved with her family to Kellogg. The family also lived in the Chester area and the Westfield community before coming to Grinnell in 1916.

She was employed at the former Fowler's Creamery and later at the Morrison-Shults glove factory for 27 years. She had also worked for Grinnell College and DeLong Sportswear.

She was married to Edward J. Hotchkin in 1936 here. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

Mrs. Hotchkin is survived by a stepdaughter, Margaret Proctor of Golden, Colo., four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1953; two stepchildren, Leonard and William Hotchkin; and two brothers, August and Herman Mithelman.
