OLE AKRE IS CALLED BY DEATH

Ole Johan Torreson Akre, son of Torres and Ellen Johanason Akre, was born on Feb. 14, 1863, at Akre Skudesness, Stavanger, Norway, and passed away to his eternal home on May 31, 1928, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Olga Roseland, Malcom, Iowa. He was one of a family of six children. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. His father died when Mr. Akre was a lad six years of age. In 1888 he left Stavanger and came to America, making his home at New Sharon, Iowa. On July 15, 1890, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Bertha Opdahl of Grinnell. To this union four children were born. These with three stepsons and two sisters mourn his death. The children are, Mrs. Emma Lande of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Perry Akre of Grinnell, Mrs. Jennie Clements, Marshalltown, Mrs. Olga Roseland, Malcom. The stepsons are, Rev. B.L. Opdahl, Twin Valley, Minn., Olie Opdahl, Chicago, Ill., Peter Opdahl, Ewart, Ia. The sisters are Dora Akre and Mrs. Martha Johnson of Hardy, Iowa.

During Mr. Akre's residence in America his home has been in the vicinity of Malcom and Grinnell with the exception of three years spent at Clear Lake, South Dakota.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Roseland and at the Norwegian Lutheran church in Grinnell in charge of Rev. George Blagg on Saturday, June 2, 1928. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mrs. Snook and Mrs. Bouma. Interment was made in Hazelwood.
